Family Day Sunday at the Great Northern Viking Festival

Sunday at the Great Northern Viking Festival is Family Day, with special focus on kids, families, and daytime festival fun.

Little Vikings’ Landing is our dedicated kids area at the Great Northern Viking Festival, proudly presented by WOW! Zone Mankato, the 2026 sponsor of Little Vikings’ Landing.

This family-friendly space is designed for younger Vikings and their grown-ups, with hands-on activities, storytelling, crafts, games, and interactive fun throughout Family Day Sunday.

Kids can explore festival favorites like the Viking Relic Dig, Troll Tunnel, play area, craft area, storytelling, interactive Viking games, and other kid-friendly activities. 

It is a welcoming place for families to pause, play, create, listen, explore, and enjoy a little Viking adventure together.

Family Day Sunday includes special activities and entertainment designed with kids and families in mind. From hands-on learning to creative contests, Sunday gives younger guests a chance to do more than just watch — they can participate, explore, and become part of the adventure.

Families can look forward to:

• Sunday Longboat Races — Kids can make their own longboats and race them in a friendly contest. 
• Hands-On Activities with Ney Nature Center — Families can enjoy Owl Pellet Discovery, a homesteading activity with a Viking twist, and a come-and-go table where guests can learn more about Ney Nature Center through interactive nature-based elements. 
• Visit the Icelandic Horses — Families can see these beautiful Nordic horses up close and learn more about the breed. 
• Kid-Friendly Dungeons & Dragons Booth — Kids can enjoy a beginner-friendly tabletop adventure inspired by Viking stories, fantasy, teamwork, and imagination.
• Viking Demos, Food, Vendors, and Games — Enjoy daytime festival fun throughout the grounds.
